Editing and sound

Intro Scene

I Animated the Intro scene on Toonboom Harmony, using frames from our stop motion in the background as the stars

Third and Final Day Shooting

Today we shot the scenes on Nuts planet, we had issues with the magnets not getting through the thick layers of wool, however when we added more magnets this problem resolved itself. For Nut's planet, Malcolm animated and I operated the camera

Second Day Filming 27/11/15

Second Day filming we finished off Bolts scenes, taking turns at animating and operating the camera, we had a few issues with the jump and the kick but were solved with fishing line, Im not happy that the fishing line has come up on the final shots, however, this is a small compromise to get the story we wanted.

First Day of Filming 26/10/15

First day of filming Malcolm and I set up the lights and camera settings,
we shot the first scenes on Bolts Planet with me animating the camera being operated by Malcolm.

We ran into a few problems but all were sorted out rather quickly

Jelly bean StopMotion

One of the hardest things about stop motion is finding the patience to make sure everything is perfect, this video inspired me as the background is hundreds of jelly beans made into a scene, it demonstrates the immense patience needed to create the vision of a stop motion animation.

Making of

Props and worlds

We have been working on the small props for our stop motion animation and have finished the asset list. Today we will begin shooting

I made the tree for the final scene from wire then paper machet. After this i wrapped it in brown wool and hung green wool from the branches, I think it suits Nuts planet well.

Malcolm and I made Nuts planet from layers of wool, we will have an issue with their feet not magnetizing to the metal underneath as it is so thick, however this should be solved with a stronger magnet underneath the base

Research

These videos have been helpful for me in understanding stop motion techniques better, I find the making of the puppets an interesting process, although our puppets will not be made of latex some of the techniques used could be useful when we make Nut and Bolt.

Audio

I've been working on the audio for our animatic, can't decide if there should be dynamic noises in aswell as the music, it sounds nice with just music playing through the whole clip. We also have a few choices for the music, I like the piano version as it suits the mood of our story. I am having trouble uploading the audio files to my blog but will keep trying.

Making of The BoxTrolls

I watched the Making of video for the Box Trolls, it is a long video but worth the watch, it gave me an idea as to how big companies make something like stopmotion a plausible way to produce a feature length film. I am more appreciative of the amount of work that goes into these types of movies.

Storyboard

Malcolm and I both worked on the storyboard, with me drawing and outlining the main composition and Malcolm detailing eachframe

The Snowman BDM103

The Snowman, By Kelly Wilson was involved in a copyright infringement case when Disney's Frozen trailer was released and showed parallels to the short animated film. Because of this case Disney had been unable to start the production of Frozen's sequel. The case was dismissed without prejudice in June of this year with Disney deciding to settle the case outside of court with undisclosed terms.

BDM103 Parody's

Weird Al Yankovic- Tacky

Tacky is a parody made by Weird Al of the music video Happy by Pharrell. Weird Al is known for his long list of parody's of movies, music and pop culture.  Using the same tune as Happy, Tacky parody's the song by changing the musical lyrics, this is a common form of parody that has been done many times.

Stewie- Rocket Man

This video is almost a double parody, as Stewie from Family Guy Parody's William Shatner's interpretation of Billy Joel's song, Rocket Man. I'm not sure if you can count William Shatner's version as a parody but Stewie is without doubt referencing Shatner's version in this clip as seen by the obvious similarities between the two,

Epic Movie

Epic movie is a feature length parody take on many well known films. The movie uses parody as its comedic value and the main plot-line of the whole story. There have been many movies along the same lines as|Epic Movie, such as Not Another Teen Movie, The Scary Movie Franchise, and Vampire's Suck.
Flight of the Concords- Footloose

Flight of the Concords is another group who uses a lot of parody;s in their famous videos. This Particular video focus' on a scene fro the movie Footloose. It is an obvious reference to the movie with the well known shot in a shipping container where Kevin Bacon rips off his jacket. The use of parody makes this video humorous and more entertaining to watch.

Naked Gun 2 1/2- Ghost

The Naked Gun is a series built on parody's of famous blockbuster movies from Casablanca to this scene in 2 1/2 featuring the Ghost Melody Montage. It uses famous and overused sequences to enhance the humor of the films.
